An
excellent collection of some of the finest old-time Southern fiddle music from
the lone star state. Vernon Riddle spent nearly 20 years in Texas learning
from some of the very best Texas fiddlers. This CD is proof of that. You
want your moneys worth, then here's 29 tunes that he learned in the lone star
state first-hand from the likes of Eck Robertson, Texas Shorty, Dale Morris and
Benny Thomasson. You will here rare hornpipes and reels, hoedowns and just good
plain honest fiddling. There's absolutely no singing, just fine fiddling. Vernon
is accompanied on guitar by his wife Ruth. She plays excellent back-up on her
Gibson guitar. Some of the tunes are: General Longstreet, The Hawk Got a
Chicken, Red Bird Hornpipe, Twin Reel, Hummingbird Reel, Smith Reel and many
more!
